To Feature Three Top Nashville Singer/Songwriters
(Jackson, TN) Songwriter's Depot boasts one of its biggest lineups to date for the next show at the Old Country Store Thursday evening, July 24th.

Singer/songwriters on the bill this month are some of Nashville's finest including Jason Matthews, Tim Johnson and Kerry Kurt Phillips. Jason is best known as the writer of Billy Currington's number one hit "Must Be Doin Somethin Right", "Break Down Here", "Country Man" and many more. He recently enjoyed his first hit as a solo artist "That's What Mama's Do".

Tim Johnson wrote "I Let Her Lie" for Daryle Singletary and co-wrote "Things That Never Cross A Man's Mind" for Kellie Pickler. He has enjoyed over 100 major label cuts as a songwriter.

Kerry Kurt's catalog of over 600 songs has garnered four #1 singles as surveyed by Billboard and Radio And Records. He has been awarded 12 gold records and 17 platinum albums accounting for certified sales of over 30 million records. He has written for such country stars as George Jones, Joe Diffee and Tim McGraw. ]]> "Woofstock" ....An Update! tag:events.caseyjonesbulletin.com,2008-06-16:f095e3b4-d2ca-4b1a-ad80-774cfe5be41e Deborah 2008-06-16T22:48:01Z 2008-06-16T21:15:00Z Woofstock really went to the dogs in a good way on Saturday,  June 14th at Beech Lake at Woofstock '08 - A Rally to Rescue.  It was sponsored by a group we are proud to be involved with - Companion Pet Rescue (CPR)  of West Tennessee.  They, along with two other rescue groups in our area, put on a fun festival on the shores of Beech Lake in Lexington raising awareness on a variety of animal issues.

There were so many precious dogs and cats there many of whom are ready for adoption. Thank you to the area for their support of this event and to the media in West Tennessee for helping us spread the word especially WBBJ - TV and WYN 106.9 in Jackson.  Animal rescue folks are a brave and tireless group of people dedicated to helping dogs and cats who cannot help themselves.  Their stories of sad beginnings and happy endings are amazing!   If you know of anyone looking for a family pet, please visit www.tnpetrescue.com . Woofstock is Going to the Dogs
This Saturday June 14th!
 
Saturday, June 14th, 2008 Beech Lake will be the site for a day long celebration of all things dogs with the first annual "Woofstock '08 - A Rally to Rescue" event.  Held in Lexington, Tennessee, it will feature festivities from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm including live bands performing throughout the day, micro-chipping, a 5 K-9 Run/Walk that begins at 7:30 am at Westover School in Lexington, a Pet Parade at 10:30 am, Pet Contests at 1:00 pm, a Silent Auction, K-9 demonstrations throughout the day, pet related vendors, drawings and much more. 
 
Woofstock is sponsored by Companion Pet Rescue based in Jackson, Henderson County Humane Society and Loving Paws rescue group from Luray in Chester County . The purpose of the event is to increase community awareness and educate the public of the need for spay/neuter, rabies vaccinations as well as the increasing concern of dogs and cats needing to be rescued.
  
The entry is free to the public but donations will be accepted and much appreciated.  There will be various opportunities for people to participate in raising money for spaying/neutering animals, vet fees, heartworm treatments and of course food and housing for rescue pets.  
 
Directions to Woofstock: From Jackson take Highway 412 to Lexington to the Beech Lake entrance at Hwy 412 and Church Street by the Dairy Queen.  From Interstate 40 heading east take exit 93 (Law Road) to Highway 412 and take a left and follow it into Lexington.
 
So pack up your pets and come on down to Beech Lake this Saturday, June 14th...animal friends are more than welcome!

Be sure to stop by our booth at the Bluesfest in beautiful Downtown Jackson this weekend!  We will be a food vendor both evenings from 5 pm until and are very excited about being a part of this fun festival.  We have a great menu planned and will be serving catfish sandwiches and shrimp baskets with slaw and will also have sides available of okra, fried green tomatoes and our famous cracklin' cornbread.  We'll have fountain drinks too. It will be held at the West Tennessee Farmers Market pavilion so come see us!

Admission to the historic Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum is free from 9 am to 5 pm all day and you can meet Casey Jones' granddaughter and great-granddaughter and great-grandson from 2 to 4 at the Casey Jones Train Store! Wow! That's incredible!   

There will be live music from 3 to 4 pm by the Googe Family  and the introduction of new items to our collection in addition to the Casey Jones Story as told by Museum Historian Norma Taylor at 10 am and 1 pm at the Casey Jones Train Store.  Don't miss this historic day in the life of the Casey Jones Museum.

April is a big month for us as we celebrate Casey Jones Day, the 30th Anniversary of Casey Jones Village, the Old Country Store's 43rd year in business and the Museum's 52nd year.  Be sure to register for door prizes.  We are giving away 30 door prizes on the 30th!  We'll draw for them and mail gift certificates to the winners.  Registration will be all day Wednesday from 6:30 am to 9 pm  in the Old Country Store Gift Shoppe.   Y'all come!

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been 43 years  since the original Old Country Store opened on Airways Boulevard (then called Poplar).  First opened as an antique museum with a small lunch counter in April of 1965, it sure has grown since that humble beginning.  We are very grateful to our local friends and friends from around the world for the past 43 years.  It's been a great ride and the best is yet to come!

Mr. Brooks Shaw passed away many years ago but his fingerprints remain on our business as we strive to make him proud.  Mrs. Anne Shaw celebrates her 85th birthday in May and is a remarkable woman.  What a great couple our founders were and we're happy Miss Anne continues on as the heart of our business.   She loves having her kids work in the business.  We are grateful to our leadership team and our amazing staff who work hard every single day to make it happen.   43 years...now that's a lot of cornbread and turnip greens. 

Many thanks to Clark and Juanita Shaw for their leadership and dedication.   Their passion for the business  is contagious.  Lawrence and Norma Taylor do an outstanding job running the Museum.  Norwood and Joyce Jones worked at the Store for 37 years before retiring in 2002 from the day to day operation and we're grateful for their part in our success.  We have great partners, a great team and great guests.  We call it an honor to serve you every day.   Since 1965, thanks for allowing us to be a part of your lives!   If you have a favorite OCS story you would like to share I'd be glad to hear it and post a few on our blog.  Email us at caseyjonestn@yahoo.com .

(Jackson, TN)  Cracklin cornbread isn't the only thing served up on the menu at Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store.  On the 4th Thursday of the month, Songwriter's Depot features Nashville's finest singer/songwriter's performing live bringing you the story behind the song of some of country music's greatest hits. 

Produced by Shane Connor of WYN 106.9, the next show is Thursday, April 24th at 7 pm with Dinner at 6 pm.  The April show features Jason Matthews along with Phillip and Amber Leigh White.  Matthews was named the Music Row Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year in 2006.  Matthews wrote Billy Currington's number one smash hit “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right”, Julie Roberts “Breakdown Here”, James Otto's "The Ball", Tammy Cochran's "Life Happened", and many others. ]]> Many thanks for a great Hobo Gathering! tag:events.caseyjonesbulletin.com,2008-04-26:0d93a63b-7c87-42d1-a512-9fc8c8370000 Deborah 2008-04-27T00:16:40Z 2008-04-26T23:52:00Z Many thanks to our hobo friends from around the country who came into town for the Casey Jones Hobo Gathering.  We had a great time!  Many thanks too for the hospitality extended by Alexandria Place who hosted us to lunch on Friday.  The Serenity Singers performed for the residents and that was a real treat.  The Serenity Singers also sang at Cheyenne Trace Friday morning so we got the day off to a great start.  Friday afternoon we spent the afternoon at the Village and had perfect weather for the campfire that night.  Several members of the Plectral Society came and joined in on the musical entertainment.  Saturday morning we had a nice ceremony at Casey Jones' gravesite led by Redbird Express who always does a great job.  He and Lady Nightingale, Spike and Lady Sonshine (reigning National Queen of the Hobos) all participated in the ceremony.   We had a wonderful rest of the day at the Village with the closing campfire Saturday night.  Norma and Lawrence Taylor do a great job hosting the event at the Museum that is also sponsored by the Old Country Store.
