The
work that they have accomplished in a few short years is remarkable.
The group has received grants for their historic preservation work from
such groups as Humanities Tennessee, the National Trust, the Smithsonian
in Washington, D.C. When the "Journey Stories" exhibit visited their
restored Pennington Building in Mercer, Tennessee for six weeks in early
2011, over 4,000 people registered to see the exhibit and the
group invited over 1,400 students in at their expense. It was the
smallest venue ever for a Smithsonian exhibit and one of the most
successful. They have hosted numerous
events the past few years including
cemetery walks and
"Christmas at Ebenezer" and have received awards for their historic
preservation work. The Association, led by Mr. King, worked tirelessly
to
secure grants to restore the historic
1854 era Denmark Presbyterian Church. Work is scheduled to begin
November 1st of this year.
