DAR Field of Flags on Display at
Casey Jones Village
(Jackson, TN) The Jackson-Madison Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has installed the Field of Flags display at Casey Jones Village for the public to view through Patriots Day, September 11th.
The flags are flown in honor of the Revolutionary War ancestors of Jackson and Madison County. Madison County was the final home to at least twelve Revolutionary War patriots including: John Arnold; William Betts; Jonas Clark, Sr.; Benjamin Clearwater; John Dillard; Joel Dyer; Richard Fenner; Rev. Green Hill; Chapness Madding; Bradley Medlin; James Nolin; Nicholas Perry; and Moses Robison.
These men and all other Revolutionary War Patriots who fought and sacrificed for our nation’s freedom are honored with the Field of Flags.
Old Country Store CEO Clark Shaw said, "Having the Field of Flags in Casey Jones Village is very special to us. My wife, Juanita, invited the DAR to display them at the Village. The DAR's mission is to promote patriotism, education and historical preservation and their motto is "God, Home and Country". We feel our visions align perfectly and complement each other beautifully in sharing this wonderful display with our guests."
In addition to the thirteen Revolutionary War patriots, additional flags are sponsored and dedicated to Revolutionary War patriots who are associated with Jackson and Madison County. These patriots are sponsored by descendants living in the Jackson area. Markers identify the patriots and the colonies for which they served.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War.
Casey Jones Village is located at 56 Casey Jones Lane in Jackson, Tennessee. The website is www.caseyjones.com.
