(Jackson, TN)  All aboard for family fun as Casey Jones Village prepares to celebrate Casey Jones Day in a big way  on Saturday, April 30th. Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum is full steam ahead offering free admission and festivities all day April 30th at the Museum.

Casey Jones' famous last ride took place almost 111 years ago on April 30th, 1900.  Jones, an engineer for Illinois Central Railroad, was heading toward Vaughan, Mississippi on his new route from Memphis when another train stalled on the track ahead. He heroically stayed with his passenger train in the now world famous collision. He saved the lives on all of his crew and passengers on board and his was the only life lost.  He was only 37 years old with a wife and three children. An engine wiper named Wallace Saunders set Jones' action to song and the eventual popularity of "The Ballad of Casey Jones" made Jones a world wide folk hero.

Casey Jones' very own granddaughter, Nancy Howse, is scheduled to attend with a meet and greet opportunity at the Casey Jones Train Store April 30th.  There will be also be guest experts on telegraphy and  model railroading, children's activities, live musical entertainment, drawings for door prizes and more.  As a special thank you, admission will be free all day on Saturday, April 30th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This year Brooks Shaw & Son Old Country Store is celebrating 46 years in business.  This local landmark first opened in April of 1965 at 514 Poplar (now Airways) and has since been enjoyed by millions of guests from around the globe. Under the leadership of Clark and Juanita Shaw, it's the Old Country Store's mission to save the historic treasures of the past and the South's rich culinary heritage for future generations.  The legendary eatery is
consistently voted Jackson's Best Restaurant in the Jackson Sun newspaper's Readers Choice Awards and includes the restaurant, a gift shoppe, ice cream parlor and the Old Country Store "To Go".  The Old Country Store will be having a Spring Open House April 30th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
