Great day in the Village October 9th!
Posted October 9th, 2010: We had a wonderful day in the Village! We started our day in a very exciting way with a visit from Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam who is the Republican candidate for the Governor of Tennessee. There was a great crowd and a lot of special guests. Visit our Facebook page at "Casey Jones Village" for the photo album.
The GM & O Historical Society fall meeting is going great. Railfest was fantastic today as we enjoyed a fun day at Casey Jones Museum. We've also posted a photo album from today on our Casey Jones Village Facebook page too. Many thanks to Museum director Lawrence Taylor and his wife, Norma, for all their hard work along with the Museum staff in preparing for this exciting weekend and to George Googe who also helped coordinate the meeting with the GM & O Historical Society. George also made several media appearances to promote the event.
We deeply appreciate the Jackson Sun newspaper's comments in the "Hearts & Darts" column: In The Jackson Sun today: Hearts to Casey Jones Village for helping preserve and celebrate Jackson's railroad history. This week's dedication of the restored Judge Milton Brown Pullman car and hosting this weekend's Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Historical Society fall meeting are the latest enhancements to the village. Casey Jones Village builds community knowledge, preserves historical treasures, serves as a community gathering place and is a major state tourist attraction. It's a job well done.
