Casey Jones Museum Offers Free Admission on
Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day
Free Admission with Online Museum Day Ticket 

(Jackson, TN)  On Saturday, September 25th, 2010 Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum will participate in the sixth annual Museum Day, presented nationally by Toyota. The local landmark will join over 1,300 participating museums and cultural institutions nationwide to open their doors free of charge to all visitors who download the Museum Day Ticket from Smithsonian.com.  In celebration of heritage and cultural life, participating venues emulate the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C. based facilities.

Deborah Shaw Laman, Casey Jones Museum marketing director, said, "We appreciate the opportunity provided by the Smithsonian to be a part of Museum Day promoting visitation to museums both large and small across America.  We are proud to be among a dozen institutions participating September 25th across the state of Tennessee. Guests just need to bring in the ticket coupon that they download online at www.smithsonian.com/museumday . They will fill out a simple form online selecting Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum in our state then will be emailed a ticket to print that they bring to our Museum for one free pass and one guest pass valid on September 25th, 2010 from
9:00 am to 5:00 pm."

About Casey Jones Museum 

Walk in the footsteps of the world's most famous railroad hero at the Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum. Tour Casey Jones' home where he lived with his wife and three children in the 1890's and the 8,000 train station expansion that opened in 2009. featuring an all new exhibit hall, the Jackson Room for community functions and a Museum store, the Casey Jones Train Store,  featuring all things trains, a Thomas the Tank play corner and model trains in operation.

Opened in 2009, the new "Train Station" features greatly expanded exhibits on the life and legend of Casey Jones. New as of June 2010, "The Railroads and the Civil War in Tennessee" permanent exhibit explores the Tennessee experience of the American Civil War.  Casey Jones Museum's executive director is Lawrence Taylor and the Casey Jones historian is Norma Taylor.  Hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and the phone number is 731.668.1222.
