The Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Historical Society To Hold National
Meeting at Casey Jones Museum
 
(Jackson, TN)  Casey Jones Museum is proud to announce that the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Historical Society will be holding it's national annual fall meeting in Jackson at Casey Jones Museum the weekend of October 9th.  The GM & O Historical Society is a non-profit historical and educational organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad, its predecessor lines and subsidiary companies.  It is based out of Marion, Illinois.
 
The Railroadiana swap meet will be held at the historic Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum. It is located at 30 Casey Jones Lane in Jackson's Casey Jones Village.  Hours for the meet are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9th. For the event, the Museum is offering discounted admission prices of $4.50 for adults and $3.50 for children and includes the show and the Museum tour. Participants will enjoy exploring the new 8,000 square foot Casey Jones Train Station built in 2009 with greatly expanded exhibits on the life of America's railroad legend, Casey Jones, and the history of railroading in Jackson.
 
Jackson, Tennessee has a rich railroad history and specifically as a GM&O company town.  Jacksonian I.B. Tigrett served as the GM & O President. The GM&O Pullman car the Judge Milton Brown now resides at Casey Jones Village and is the home of American Family Radio for West Tennessee.  Plans call for the Pullman car section of the railcar to be open to the public later this fall as a part of the Museum tour.
