Grand Opening News!

Don't miss all the excitement with our upcoming Wellwood Country Store Ribbon Cutting on Friday, October 9th at 11 am and the Grand Opening celebration at Casey Jones Museum October 16th, 17th & 18th.  It's going to be a great fall.  Come see our beautiful new fall decorations in the Village too!  Here are the details about the Grand Opening:

Grand Opening Celebration Planned for Casey Jones Museum October 16th, 17th & 18th

(Jackson, TN) A three day official Grand Opening is on track for the Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum October 16th, 17th & 18th, 2009 to celebrate the Train Station expansion with an opportunity to meet the granddaughter of Casey Jones, view new exhibits and tour the renovated Home of Casey Jones among other festivites. Opening ceremonies will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 16th, 2009 followed by a reception. 

Admission will be free from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, October 16th and only $5.00 for adults and seniors throughout the weekend. Children 6 to 12 are $4.50 and children five and under are free.  There will be
musical entertainment and various activities at the Museum and Casey Jones Village
throughout the weekend.

Casey Jones' granddaughter, Nancy Howse of Jackson,  is scheduled to attend the opening ceremonies and State of Tennessee Commissioner of Tourist Development  Susan Whitaker from Nashville, local dignitaries and project partners.  The original home of Casey Jones will be open for tours. At the time of the Ribbon Cutting on opening day  June 19th, the Home of Casey Jones was closed for renovation.  The Home reopened in July and with former exhibits now moved into the new Train Station it  is decorated in the 19th century era period as it would have been at the time  Casey Jones and his family lived there.

The Museum also has a non-profit arm, the Casey Jones Historical Fund, through the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation allowing individual and corporate sponsors to take 100% tax deductions for contributions to the Museum.  All donations will be used for either new exhibits or educational programs as well as for the upkeep of the Casey Jones Home.  Visit the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation website at www.wthfoundation.org  for more information about  online donations.   (Those interested in making a donation can go to the "Make A Donation" page to the section on  "Community Funds").
