A Special Invitation from our CEO

A Special Note about the Wellwood Country Store
from our CEO, Clark Shaw

Built in 1925 by Mr. Jesse Edwards, you can now see the fully restored original country store our founder, Brooks Shaw, worked in as a boy in the 1940’s under Mr. Henry Waddell.   The Wellwood Supply and Country Store later inspired him to open the Old Country Store we have today that has been enjoyed by millions of visitors from across the nation and around the world since 1965.  The Wellwood Store that started it all stands proudly beside Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store in Casey Jones Village.

Purchased from Mrs. Floyd “ Dorris” Joyner in 2002, Wellwood has been relocated and lovingly restored to look as it might have in the 1940’s when Brooks Shaw worked there.  Today it is filled with antiques and gifts you would have seen from the 1940’s back.

Bring your family and friends and go down memory lane with us. We’ll be serving up FREE Bologna Sandwiches, Hoop Cheese and Crackers and R.C. Cola and Moon Pies from 10:30 – 12 noon on Friday, October 9th as we re-live this special place in time at the Wellwood Supply and Country Store.  A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 11 am in Casey Jones Village at the Store with the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce.

P.S. We’re collecting stories about the  Wellwood store. Hope you’ll write some down and share with us at Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store  C/O Clark Shaw  56 Casey Jones Lane  Jackson, TN  38305 or by email at caseyjonestn@yahoo.com .

Thank you!
Clark Shaw

Updated October 9th, 2009:  Today's events were very special.  Despite the rainy weather, it was standing room only for our open house and ribbon cutting.  Many thanks to those who braved the weather to be with us.  Pictures coming soon!
