They have played through the years at the Store on special occasions and with Jackson Area Plectral Society events and are really great folks. They had an availability during daughter Ellen's summer break from her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. Come hear an eclectic performance of everything from bluegrass to Celtic to classical. You won't want to miss it! See the details below:

The Appleton Family Band To Perform
Free Concert at the Old Country Store
August 14th
(Jackson, TN) The Appleton Family Band, featuring Ellen Appleton and Steven Bowman, will be performing a free live performance for the dinner guests at the Old Country Store restaurant on Friday night, August 14th at 7:00 pm in Casey Jones Village. The Appleton Family Band is best known for the various styles of music they perform. You will hear Old Time music, Jazz standards, Western Swing, Celtic, Gospel Bluegrass and even some Classical.
"We are taking this opportunity to perform as much as we can while Ellen is home for four weeks. She will be returning to Boston at the end of August where she will be a Senior music major in the New England Conservatory of Music at Walnut Hill program," states Joan Appleton, manager of the band.

Deborah Shaw Laman, Old Country Store marketing director, said, "This is a rare opportunity to hear these incredibly talented and gifted performers. We hope people will come out to share this evening of wonderful live music with us as we welcome the Appleton Family Band."
Ellen Appleton, began playing violin at age 3 and has studied classically for 13 years. An immensely gifted musician, she served as the Concertmaster in the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra, Concertmaster of All West Orchestras, was a winner in the Beethoven Club String Competition in Memphis, Tennessee, a winner of the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, a winner in the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree, a winner in Irish musical competitions and Irish Step-Dancing competitions. Ellen teaches Fiddle and Classical music and this summer taught at the Randy Elmore Fiddle Camp in Texas and the Annie Moses Band Fine Arts Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. Ellen's first recording was done at the age of 11 and she has since done two more recordings with the band, Will Tell. Ellen also plays other instruments including the guitar, keyboard, mandolin and Irish Penny Whistle. Ellen is pursuing a career in classical violin performance and will continue to be a performer of all styles of music.
Steven Bowman, of Memphis, Tennessee, is a violin performance major at the University of Memphis. He is an extremely talented and versatile player. He and Ellen began the band Will Tell in 2005, which has performed all over West Tennessee. "Steven and Ellen have been playing violin together for seven years and we consider him a part of our family. We are delighted to have him as part of The Appleton Family Band," says Joan Appleton.
