All Aboard for the Casey Jones Old-Time Bluegrass Festival!

Festival officials have announced that admission to the festival will be free to everyone this year with no gate admission charged. Music will include old-time bluegrass, old-time gospel and old-time mountain and folk music. Festival hours are 5 pm to 10 pm on Friday, September 12th and Saturday, September 13th from 10 am to 9 pm at the Casey Jones Village Amphitheatre. Concesssions will be available for purchase at the festival from the Old Country Store.
The Society is a non-profit 501 C-3 group of musicians and supporters dedicated to the promotion and preservation of traditional old-time string music. The club holds two festivals each year. The Spring festival was in Dyersburg for the first time this year and the fall festival has been in Jackson for 11 years. The group also annually gives out scholarships to young musicians to further their studies for music lessons for acoustic instruments.
Club members are also actively involved in volunteer and charity work and play for nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the West Tennessee area such as Dyer, Milan, Humboldt and Jackson. They also play for hospitals such as the Rehab Unit at Jackson/Madison County General Hospital and area festivals including Ames Plantation in LaGrange, Fall Folklore in Milan, Davy Crockett Days in Rutherford, Union City Heritage Days in Union City and the Doodle Soup Festival in Bradford.
They have also played at the Tennessee Welcome Centers for tourists and at A Taste of Jackson for the March of Dimes. Club members play at many church functions and other charitable events all over West Tennessee. Club president is Gene Leggett and Festival Chairs are John Few and Coley Graves. Jackson Area Plectral Society to Host Annual Festival at Casey Jones Village September 12th and 13th
(Jackson, TN): Every Thursday night from April to October, the Jackson Area Plectral Society's music fills the air around the front porch of Brooks Shaw's Old Country Store restaurant. But during the annual Casey Jones Old-Time Bluegrass Festival held the second weekend in September, everyone takes the stage at the beautiful Casey Jones Village Amphitheatre. Two days of festivities and live performances showcase bands made up of members of the Plectral Society as well as impromptu shade tree pickin' on the grounds.
